1. A group of turkeys is called a rafter or a flock.

2. Female turkeys don’t gobble, they purr!

3. Wild turkeys eat nuts, fruit, insects, worms, grains, and even small reptiles.

4. An adult turkey has anywhere from 5,000 to 6,000 feathers.

5. Turkeys have feather beards that can grow three to five inches every year.

6. Female turkeys are called hens. Male turkeys are called gobblers or toms.

7. Turkeys can swim, and they actually really enjoy the water.

8. Wild turkeys can fly for over a mile.

9. And even the ones that can’t fly can run up to 25 miles an hour.

10. Turkeys can see three times better than 20/20, and eight times farther.
